Hello! I am considering asking for a Amazon’s Kindle reading device as a Christmas present, and was hoping to get some feedback on it. If you have one, how do you like it? What additional functions do you use it for besides reading? Can you still browse the internet on it? Do you feel like the cost of the books is a good value? Is the screen in color? Does it feel durable, or light and flimsy? And, if you’ve ever had problems with it, does Amazon repair or replace?
Sorry for all the questions! I was just really hoping to get some feedback from real folks off the Amazon site. Thank you!

The Kindle would be such a nice Christmas present.
To answer your questions:
1) I love my Kindle.
2) I use it to read magazines, newspapers, and files from my computer. I also use it to look up words when I’m reading. (very nice feature with an integrated dictionary). Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the dogear feature, the note feature, and the highlight feature. All very useful.
3) I can browse the internet, but it’s clunky. I wouldn’t do it unless I was really desperate. Browsing the Amazon Kindle store is easy, however.
4) The screen is B/W. Images look pretty decent, but not perfect.
5) It’s durable, but I wouldn’t want to drop kick it. It’s about the weight of a trade paperback. It’s easy to hold.
6) I have never had a problem with my Kindle. I’ve only had it 4 months.
As for the next version, there is no release date set yet. It won’t be out before Christmas. But they are working on it.
