How Do I Download Books Onto My Kindle 2?

I’m having trouble downloading books onto it. I try to do it from the kindle, but everytime I click ‘Shop in Kindle Store’ it tells me that it cannot connect. I also tried hooking it up to my computer and bought a kindle book off Amazon. Amazon told me that the book would be sent to my kindle, but it has yet to appear.
Does anyone else have this problem?

On The Kindle 2: Will You Be Able To Print Sections Of The Books That You Download?

I’m a lit teacher and it is normally within fair use to abstract passages from texts to incorporate into handouts or PPTs, with paper books all this takes is scanning/photocopying or with a pdf you can normally lift a small section with the camera tool, will there be any way to do this on the kindle 2?

What Is Your Opinion Of The Amazon Kindle (1, 2 Or Dx)?

Do you own one? If you do, is it any good (readability, battery charge, selection…) I was also wondering if books stay in your library indefinitely or if it needs to be renewed like other reading devices
