Hey everyone!
I am thinking about buying new kindle 2 device, but I still have couple questions:
1 I am student, and, apparently, we have a lot of readings (PDF and Word formats) posted on our university site. Will I be able to read those with kindle?
2 If anyone here has it, what is your personal feedback?
3 Are there any worthy alternatives to kindle 2?
Thank you very much

1) Yes, both Kindle 2 and Kindle DX can read PDF and Word files. The Kindle DX can handle complicated PDF files as well.
2) I love my Kindle 2 very much. If you are thinking of getting a Kindle, I’ll say get it and you won’t regret. Since Amazon provide books for the Kindle cheaper than actual books, it has saved me quite a lot of money. Right now I’ve read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, so even I read with the device for long hours, I don’t feel tired. My only complaint is the white case, right now all the Kindles are in white color… I think it will be cool if I can have a black or deep blue color Kindle
3) If you can afford the money, you can go for the Kindle DX. Otherwise, just stay with Kindle 2 and it will be good enough.
Hope this helps.
1. The Kindle 2 will have no problem to read PDF or Word. However, it will even be better on the Kindle DX.
2. I don’t have it, but I’m saving my money and will get the Kindle DX once I’ve enough money. Some of my friends have the Kindle 2 or the Kindle DX, and they all like it.
I’ve the Kindle 2 and I like it very much. So let me try to answer your questions:
1) Yes, I can read PDF and Word files on my Kindle 2.
2) It is excellent, especially I can buy books at a much cheaper rate than actual books. I even can get some of my textbooks (but not all) on my Kindle, so it saves me some heavy weights. Amazon also provides a lot of great free books for the Kindle.
3) The Amazon Kindle is the best ebook reader right now on the market. It has great and cheap content support from Amazon, free unlimited 3G internet access, and text-to-speech function. No other electronic readers come close… You may want to consider the Kindle DX, as it is more convenient for reading PDF files (on Kindle 2 you need to convert PDF to Kindle format through email before reading on the device), and it can read complicated PDF files containing charts and graphs.
Hope it helps
