I downloaded a couple of books and uploaded them to my Pocket PC. I really liked being able to read in bed again; my Pocket PC has a back light that doesn’t wake anyone up.

It was also easier to eat and read; you only need one hand to both hold the device and push the page advance button. The problem, though, with Pocket PCs and PDAs is that the screen is small and the software resizes the page to fit the screen. So, four hundred page books suddenly become 4,000 page books.

So forget Pocket PCs and PDAs.

What lured me to the dedicated ebook readers was being able to store several books into one device. It really sucks carrying a stack of books on a weekend getaway when, really, you’re probably only going to read one or two.

I also like how some of them automatically download newspapers before you wake up. I really don’t like getting the newpaper now that I live in an apartment because taking it out to the trash everyday is a nuisance.

Have you ever seen the devices like the Sony readers and the Kindle in person? The e-ink is really, really cool. When I saw one of these readers display an ebook page for the first time, I thought I was looking at a demonstration model with a fake, paper screen.

I can’t afford a proper ebook reader so I went back to regular books. If I were you, I’d definitely get an e-ink model. Either that or wait until they figure out how to put a decent one in a cell phone/mp3 player.

One con I can think of: not every book is available for download. You might be purchasing books from more than one company, companies with ebook formats that may or may not be compatible with your own hardware.

Also, in a few years they will be much, much cheaper and they will have even better features.

I’m still leaning towards getting one. I just started moving into a new house and carrying all my books over is a real pain. I’ve gone digital with everything else and have learned to despise the sight of CDs and DVDs. They really take up way too much physical space.

I rarely read books on my computer, mostly because my eyes go all weird if I read online for too long.

Although I have only used the Kindle once [it may not have been the Kindle, but possibly the Border's version of it, but the same concept nonetheless] and I have nothing against it. I read an article in Time about it and the review seemed to like it, and it seems easy enough to read on it. The only thing that turns me off is the price. Last time I checked, it was like $200, correct me if I’m wrong.

And, even though I don’t have an iPhone, I think iTunes should let people buy e-books because the iPhone would be the perfect device for it.

I currently read them on my desktop screen. Not ideal, but then I’m waiting for Santa to get me a Sony Reader.
The Kindle is $400. A bit out of my price range. Of course, the Sony is $300. Practically a bargain! *snort*
And you can save your page on an e-reader. They provide a bookmark tab.
I obviously have no problems with e-books. I’d better not. I write for an e-publisher!

i just read them straight from my computer using adobe reader or my ipod stores books but i only have one on it
i find the internet easier you can just read no pages to turn lol
it makes books go faster and you can mostly find dome where to download them

it wouldn’t seem natural to me. I like the feel of a book. But the things are still pretty expensive for me to try out, so I’ll just buy books in the meantime.

I read two books on my computer once. Reading it off the computer is so much more tiring than just reading it the regular old way.
I will stick to hard copy books :)

No. It’s much more satisyfying to have a real book….besides how do you save your page and everything? Electronics are taking over everything,,,
