There are some cheaper ones on amazon that I am thinking of purchasing simply for my 500-600 PDF books, articles, reports, etc.
So I have no need to access the internet/wifi, and no interest in doing so. Is there a way to shut it off decide I decide to purchase one?
Or, is there something like that product which is simply used for reading PDF documents?

Amazon Kindle – Electronic Reading Device?
I am considering purchasing the Amazon Kindle but have a few questions.
1) I like to read fan fiction on sites like and I would like to know if I can put those on to the kindle or if I can only read published books?
2) The kindle runs off of a sprint card, does that mean I have to pay a phone bill or be a sprint customer?
3) Can I use an amazon gift card to by the books for my kindle, or do I have to pay with a credit card?
4) Would you recommend the Kindle or a different reading device?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has purchased a wireless reading device like Amazon’s Kindle or Sony’s Wireless Reader. Or, perhaps someone has another wireless reading device.

If I Deregister My Kindle And Re-register To Another Amazon Account, Does My Already Purchased Content Go Away?
I want to give my original kindle to my sister and buy myself the new edition. But, I also want her to be able to read all the books I have paid for and loaded already on the original kindle. Ideally I would deregister the original kindle before I give it to her so she can re-register to her own amazon account. But then will my old content disappear?

What Does A New Model Kindle Do That A Cheaper Netbook Or Notebook Full Computer Can’t Do?
I have never used an Amazon Kindle but looking at their prices I see that they cost as much as some Notebook computers and they are more expensive than a lot of netbooks. What does a Kindle do that a comparable price notebook computer does not do? It seems to me that a cheaper netbook or notebook can do all that a KIndle would do but so much more. Please advise if you have experience with a Kindle.
